Top 5 Genesis Games of All Time!
Here is my personal list of the Top 5 Genesis titles ever...please share yours...
5. Bull vs. Lakers & the NBA Playoffs
I used to pwn fools with Chicago's #23 and #33, layin' down some serious hurt on the competition. Some games I used to just give the ball repeatedly to John Paxson so he could just rain 3's all day long. And how could you not love such absurdities as Gary Payton playing Center, or slamming with John Stockton? Great!

4. Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing
An excellent boxing game, in my opinion, allowing you to create a fully customized fighter and train him from the ground up. I never did beat the man himself...how it should be, I guess.

3. Desert Strike - Return to the Gulf
Hoo-rah! This game was ridiculous...ridiculously awesome that is! I remember being in awe at the graphics back in the day when I'd first played - I felt invincible with my crazy gun-chopper (Apache? Comanche?...Cobra? I don't remember) - machine gunning soldiers in the desert as they ran, exploding tents, planes, and guard towers with my missiles, escorting the Presidential motorcade past the evil terrorists - landing on the White House lawn! Man, just the thought of it all has me seriously considering forking over $4.99 to buy it again. (I'm guessing the price is close to accurate.) Call of Duty, eat your heart out!

2. Flashback
What an enigma of a game this is/was. My young, and not-so-nimble mind was unable to wrap itself around what I was supposed to be doing the whole time. Still, I think this game was/is ahead of its time. I'm still waiting for the movie adaptation.

1. NHL 94
Hands down the best sports game of all time for any console. I know, I know...that's a big call...but honestly, I cannot remember having as much fun playing any sports game (hockey included) as I have playing this one. Sure, NHLPA 93 had the pool of blood by the guy's head if you hit him hard enough...that was kinda cool...but to me 94 was the year EA managed to bring together all of the things that made their hockey titles great in the first place. I would use this interface today with updated speed and rosters if it were possible. I miss those d-pad dekes...I could score on those dekes with my eyes closed. And wow, was Jeremy Roenick ever a monster in this game - he was unstoppable.

NOW...I am aware that I have opened myself to my fair share of hate over the exclusion of Sonic, and Sonic 2 (the better of the two IMO)...but I have to be honest...they are good...definitely fun...but they don't quite crack my top 5. Now...lemme hear it!!

You must be asking me to flame all over you! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? What the heck happened to NBA Jam???
Much respect for all the time it took to write that one. A few good games up there, but a knuckle head like me has to go with Sonic, and NBA Jam in that list. Maybe Street Fighter II...

NBA Jam? I like my basketball games more realistic...like, say...ones that give John Stockton the ability to dunk over people.
Yes, Sonic...I know, his games are good...I've acknowledged as much, but just not quite up there enough to be in my top 5.
And Street Fighter II? Ugh...just ugh...

I liked NHL 95 best, to be honest, and I agree with Desert Strike. That game was sick.
Ecco the Dolphin was pretty awesome too.

Yes, Ecco the Dolphin was cool, but must admit the whole time I was playing it I was trying to make heads or tails of what I was supposed to do. That game was hard.

Hey, hockeyman...I've been looking around at other "top" genesis lists, and I notice 'Gunstar Heroes' mentioned quite a bit. Is that a FPS or? I guess I could just ask "google"...

Oh, I love those side scrollers! When I think if side scrolling shooters I immediately think of this game from waaayyyy back in the day called 'Defender'. I cannot remember what system it was for, but I was addicted. I keep thinking it was for Atari, but I'm not sure. Sounds like a job for wikipedia...
Man, what did we do before the internet?
